Safety devices in tunnels or on motorways are primarily connected to infrastructures (emergency refuge areas, emergency exits, emergency telephones). Permanaent road monitoring used to be an essential complement to automatic incident detection cameras. Today road safety has gone one step further with the introduction of ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition): compliance with traffic rules and detection of any event that can put road users in danger.
